Skill 1: Describe how the different economies and cultures of the North and South contributed sectional politics.
The North and the South differed in multiple ways, including their views on slavery. The North did not believe in slavery and had an opposing view on how people should be treated. The South, on the other hand, believed in slavery and had multiple plantations, where slaves produced the work. Slaves on plantations in the South were responsible for the amount of raw materials to send to the North for them to use in factories. Without the help of the slaves in the south they would not have produced enough raw materials to provide enough jobs in the factories. Another difference between the North and South was that the South was rural with farms and only a few main cities, and the North had more cities and they were larger.
More differences between the South and the North were that most of nominated presidents were from the South. The North did not agree with this, this was one of the causes of the civil war.
